One of the greatest problems with websites is visitors can’t find what they want. Jakob Nielsen, one of the pioneers of the field of information architecture, said, “If the customer can’t find the product, the customer can’t buy it.”* Another problem is that the content and the appearance of the site aren’t appropriate for the audience, making the visitor ask, “Who’s this intended for, anyway?” And if your site doesn’t look professional and the visitor can’t figure out your message, s/he may shy away from your site, wondering how credible you are.
Well, sure, you’re probably thinking. That makes sense. But I’m not a professional web designer, and I don’t have time to become one. How do I do all that?
